Don't take a chance on frayed wires or intermittent connections on inline DC power jacks. This could permanently damage your equipment or power adapter. Replace it with the most popular size inline DC jack.
This inline DC power jack is great for making extensions when a regular AC extension cord doesn't fit the need. Just solder a 2.5 x 5.5 mm jack on one end and a 2.5 x 5.5 mm plug on the other. This way you make the extension as long as you need.
