Felix Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night's Dream: Incidental Music, Op. 61; Finale: Oh Glimmering Light is presented here as a Conductor Score & Parts edition.
This work draws from Mendelssohn’s music for William Shakespeare’s play, including the later incidental music written in 1842 and the familiar finale, “Through this house give glimm'ring light.” It also connects to the complete version that incorporates the original 1826 overture in E Major, Op. 21.
Instrumentation: 2.2.2.2: 2.2.0.0: Timp: Str (9.8.7.6.5 in set): Vocal Solos (SA): Women’s Chor. The work ends with the same four-chord benediction with which it began.
