
Aida: Act II, Triumphal March and Ballet Music (Original Version) Full Score presents one of the best-known passages from Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida. Set in the Old Kingdom of Egypt, the opera’s story follows tragic love shaped by jealousy and loyalty to country and family.
Commissioned by Cairo’s Khedivial Opera House, Aida premiered there on December 24th, 1871, conducted by Giovanni Bottesini. Verdi later considered the La Scala performance in Milan on February 8th, 1872 to be the true premiere.
This full score includes the Triumphal March and Ballet music with instrumentation: 2+Picc.2.2.2: 4.2.3.1: Timp.Perc(2-3): Str (4-4-3-3-3 in set): Onstage/Banda (26 Winds, Brass): Mix Chorus (available separately). The Triumphal March and Ballet has also become part of popular culture, reflecting the grand spectacle of opera.
