This reprint vocal score presents Cécile Chaminade’s Album of Songs, Volume 2, Book 2 (17 Songs). The supplied contents list names “Chant d'amour,” “Villanelle,” “Vieille Chanson,” “Trahison” and “Aubade,” each dated 1894.
Chaminade (1857–1944) was a turn-of-the-century French composer associated with nationalist composers such as Saint-Saëns and Gounod. Her tuneful, accessible music reflects both Romantic and French traditions and was popular in the United States.
Originally published between 1892 and 1893, Album of Songs contains 37 songs across two volumes. High- and low-voice versions were made available, with three books per volume—six books for each voice across the collection.
