This conductor score features “Andante,” a flowing melody from Act III of Alexander Borodin’s opera Prince Igor. The melody is described as an emotional addition to young band literature.
Borodin (1833–1887) died while composing the opera. Rimsky-Korsakov and fellow Russian composer Alexander Glazanov completed the unfinished score, and Prince Igor debuted in November 1890.
The Andante melody appears during the overture prelude.
