This conductor score presents Frédéric Chopin’s Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise Brillante in E-flat Major, Op. 22. Chopin (1810–1849) composed the work between 1830 and 1834.
The polonaise was composed first, originally for solo piano and later scored for piano and orchestra. Three years later, while preparing for a benefit concert at the Conservatoire de Paris, Chopin added the Andante Spianato as an introduction. He dedicated the work to one of his pupils, the Baroness d'Este, and performed the solo part under François-Antoine Habeneck’s direction on April 26, 1835.
