The ART Zdirect is a totally passive DI box for connecting instrument-, line- or speaker-level signals to a mixer or other balanced input. Its high-impedance, single-ended 1/4" input feeds a high-performance audio isolation transformer, which provides an isolated, balanced low-impedance output. The transformer has a flat, wide frequency response and handles high signal levels, supporting clean, neutral audio over long signal runs and in high-noise environments.
Switchable input attenuation offers 0 dB, -20 dB and -40 dB settings, and the Input Thru jack lets you tap the signal chain. The switchable Ground Lift fully isolates the inputs from the chassis and output to help reduce hum and ground-loop noise. A Phase Invert switch changes signal polarity at the source, useful when mixing a direct tap with a microphone feed.
A switchable low-pass Bessel filter on the output cuts very high-frequency interference, with a response of -3 dB at 30 kHz. Placed outside the audio range, it is intended to reduce radio-frequency interference and can also reduce digital computer noise artifacts when the Zdirect is used between a computer-based audio workstation and monitors.
The passive design is housed in a compact black anodized aluminum case for live sound, permanent/fixed installations, DJ use and other PA applications. Connections and specifications: 1/4" TRS unbalanced input, 50 k ohm; male XLR output, 600 ohm; frequency response 10 Hz to 50 kHz; THD 0.01% typical at 1 kHz, +18 dBu, and less than 0.05% at 100 Hz, +18 dBu. Output phase is switchable normal/invert. Dimensions: 1.75" x 4.2" x 3.5"; weight: 0.75 lb.
