The Audio-Technica ATW-T1402 is a digital 2.4 GHz handheld microphone transmitter for use with a System 20 PRO receiver. It has a dynamic hypercardioid microphone capsule, delivers 24-bit / 48 kHz audio, and comes in a lightweight, ergonomic black housing. One handheld transmitter is included.
The hypercardioid pickup focuses on sound in front of the microphone to help reduce bleed from other instruments and feedback from stage monitors. A quick press of the power button switches mute on or off, and the button can be locked. The OLED screen shows battery life and channel. The transmitter uses 128-bit encryption, an internal antenna, proprietary sync, auto-scan channel scanning, and three levels of diversity assurance: frequency, time, and space. Its RF output is fixed at 10 mW, with a maximum line-of-sight range of 200′ / 61 m. The system operates in the 2402 to 2480 MHz band, with 2.8 to 6.7 ms latency, and can support up to 20 transmitters per band and 20 mic channels simultaneously.
Transmitter specifications include a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response, microphone input level, and a gain range of -10 to +20 dB. It has no audio I/O, USB I/O, auto-level/gain, built-in recorder, timecode support, or mobile app compatibility. Two AA batteries are required and not included; battery life is up to 18 hours with alkaline batteries or 35 hours with lithium batteries. No AC/DC power adapter is included.
The transmitter measures 2.1 x 10.4″ / 53.7 x 265 mm and weighs 10.6 oz / 300 g without batteries. It has no stated environmental resistance. Package weight is 1.16 lb, and box dimensions (LxWxH) are 11.9 x 4.5 x 2.85″.
