Audtek Electronics' SKRL speaker wire is designed to complement any high-end audio system. Oxygen free copper (OFC) is configured in a rope-lay configuration to minimize skin effect which causes high frequency roll-off. Clear, flexible PVC insulation withstands abuse and is rated up to 140°F (60°C). Red line on one conductor and ridge on the other for easy polarity identification. Feeling for the ridge allows you to easily identify the polarity even in low light conditions. Construction: 413 strands x 36 AWG per conductor. Also available in 100 and 250 ft. rolls and 12, 14, and 16 AWG.
Audtek uses pure copper strands in its OFC speaker wire. You'll see OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) in many places which means the copper strands go through an additional process making it more than 99% pure copper and the result reduces resistance which increases conductivity. Increasing conductivity delivers more wattage/current to speakers or other components.
Available at a lower cost is CCA (Copper Clad Aluminum) speaker wire, which is aluminum strands covered by a thin layer of copper. Pure copper's conductivity is 35% to 40% better than CCA due to the resistance that aluminum strands add to the signal transfer. That means you would have to buy a larger gauge of CCA wire to get the same result as OFC wire. CCA wire is also very hard to get good solder results when making your own cables. Even in premade cables, the wires are more likely to separate from the connectors and cause intermittent failures. This is why we strongly recommend Audtek OFC wire and cable for all you hookup needs.
