The Beyma Qlex Series 18-inch subwoofer is a 4-ohm driver for professional subwoofer systems. It has a 1,600 W AES rating and 97 dB sensitivity, delivering powerful low-frequency output while maintaining efficiency.
Its 4-inch QUATTRO voice coil enhances motor force and spreads heat across the coil structure. Maltcross cooling uses forced convection in the driver's core to lower coil operating temperature and also functions as a demodulation ring, linearizing the transducer's inductance. The technology is designed to support higher power levels with a given coil diameter; larger voice coils typically correlate with higher power capacity but require bigger motor structures for high total output. Maltcross can enable smaller coils and motor structures, reducing size and weight, increasing sensitivity, and maintaining adequate power handling for specific applications, with total SPL comparable to drivers with larger motor structures. It addresses heat dissipation, stability, and SPL loss over time from speaker power compression.
The driver supports ±13 mm of linear excursion and up to 60 mm peak-to-peak for clean, powerful low-end. A dual-treated cone, carefully engineered magnet circuit, and aluminum demodulating ring contribute to durability and reduced unwanted harmonics. The response plot key identifies the solid line as on axis and the dotted line as 45º off axis.
