The Boss Audio Systems Onyx is a full-range, 4-channel Class A/B car amplifier with a MOSFET power supply and 1,600 watts total power output. It is 2-ohm stable, supports speaker impedance from 2-8 ohms, and can be configured for 4/3/2 channels. Its linear circuitry is designed to reduce distortion while increasing sound quality and power output.
Power ratings are 400 watts x 4 peak and 300 watts x 4 RMS at 2 ohms, and 200 watts x 4 peak and 150 watts x 4 RMS at 4 ohms. Bridged at 4 ohms, ratings are 800 watts x 2 peak and 900 watts x 2 RMS. Frequency response is 10-30,000 Hz. Dimensions are 7" x 2.3" x 12.25".
Features include a low-pass filter (50-250 Hz), bass boost (0-18 db), subwoofer level control, and variable gain control. It is bridgeable for additional power or flexibility. Inputs are 2 x RCA and high level; there are 2 pre-amp outputs. High-level and low-level inputs allow connection to speaker signals or source-unit pre-amp outputs.
Thermal, overload, and short protection monitor operating conditions; thermal protection shuts the amplifier off if it gets too hot, and short protection cuts output if a speaker failure causes an electrical short.
