This beautiful, traditional Catalonian song, also titled El Noi de la Mere (The Mother's Child), has been sung as a Christmas carol; however, it is also quite popular with classical guitarists. Folk-like melodies weave through unexpected harmonies to give this piece a joyous, yet sophisticated mood. Strings play pizzicato throughout to honor its guitar roots. Perfect as a change of pace for a winter program, or at any time of year!
