Crepuscule is a conductor score and parts for an energetic orchestral work in E minor. Its title refers to twilight—the partial darkness at the beginning or end of the day, when the energy of the sun meets the quiet of night.
The piece opens with a perfect fifth motive that gives students opportunities to develop intonation while hopping their finger to adjacent strings. The first theme uses short, articulated bow strokes; the lyrical second theme calls for slow, sustained bow strokes. All orchestra sections are featured with challenging and interesting parts. Duration: 3:50.
