Da Vinci Sketches is a composition by Erik Morales, offered as a conductor score and parts. It draws inspiration from Leonardo da Vinci’s sketches relating to art, architecture, industry, and human flight.
The piece opens with an ethereal passage and a flute solo before stating its main theme. The theme builds through changing textures to a massive percussion break, then gives way to a lyrical second theme representing the Mona Lisa.
The opening theme returns in a new setting, bringing the composition to a stunning conclusion.
