The Dayton Audio 4-inch Designer Series woofer is an affordable, attractive driver developed with speaker designers in mind. It is engineered to handle full rated power at the lowest possible frequencies without exceeding Xmax, and is optimized for audio reproduction in a wide variety of enclosures and alignments.
Suggested sealed cabinet: Closed (alpha 1.9), Qtc 0.55; 0.1 ft³ internal volume including volume displaced by the driver. Golden-ratio internal dimensions: 9"H x 5-1/2"W x 3-1/2"D. Typical results: 3 dB down-point (f3) of 135 Hz; low-frequency limit at rated power without exceeding conventional Xmax ((voice coil length – gap height) / 2) of 70 Hz.
Suggested vented cabinet: Bass reflex; 0.12 ft³ internal volume including volume displaced by the driver and port. Golden-ratio internal dimensions: 9-1/2"H x 5-7/8"W x 3-5/8"D. Port dimensions with flared exit: 1" dia. x 6"L. Typical results: 3 dB down-point (f3) of 73 Hz, tuning frequency (fb) of 69 Hz, and low-frequency limit at rated power without exceeding conventional Xmax ((voice coil length – gap height) / 2) of 55 Hz.
