The Dayton Audio dual steel spring balanced audio exciter turns a rigid panel into a sound source, allowing audio to be integrated into surfaces rather than delivered by a conventional visible speaker. Its dual-suspension system supports controlled motion, and its high-strength neodymium motor uses a 32 mm voice coil.
It handles 20 watts RMS and 40 watts peak, with a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, Re of 3.2 ohms, Le of 0.22 mH, and Fs of 320 Hz. Dimensions are 2.38" (60.5 mm) diameter x 0.95" (23.75 mm) height; the mounting pad/adhesive is 1.26" (32 mm) in diameter. Weight: 133.2 grams.
The removable mounting pad has pre-applied 3M VHB adhesive for smooth surfaces, and two screw holes allow fastening to rough or textured surfaces. The exciter can be installed on furniture panels, display components, architectural structures, and other rigid substrates.
Frequency response and sensitivity depend on the designated surface. Thinner, smaller materials tend to be louder and produce a mid/tweeter response; thicker, larger materials used with multiple exciters tend to be slightly quieter and produce a more full-range sound.
