Easy Jazz Conception: Viola is a book & CD set designed to help viola players learn and practice basic jazz style through 15 solo etudes.
The etudes are based on blues and standard chord progressions and are demonstrated by Mark Feldman on violin with a world-class rhythm section: Mike LeDonne, piano; Peter Washington, bass; and Kenny Washington, drums.
The recording includes two separate versions of each etude: one with the soloist and rhythm section, and one with the rhythm section only. That lets you hear the phrasing, play with the soloist, or practice on your own with the accompaniment.
Use this set to study jazz phrasing, interpretation, and improvisation in a clear, hands-on format.
