This 10-by-11-inch cylindrical Renaissance-style drum has two skin heads, with a snare on the bottom head. The snare adds a rattle when the drum is played with the included drum sticks.
The modern replica is made from half-inch laminates for strength and light weight, with mulberry top and bottom rings. A tension rim holds the skin head, and a brass hook helps suspend the drum from a belt or strap while playing.
Designed by The Early Music Shop of Bradford England, this traditional military-style drum is also used in parades and processions.
