This digital-only edition contains instrumental parts for “Equality,” a movement from Like Dust I Rise, a choral song cycle. Its contemporary gospel-style sound supports a choral anthem for equal rights, delivered through the unwavering words of Maya Angelou and a confident solo voice.
When performing the piece as part of the cycle, an alternate ending leads directly into the closing movement of “Like Dust I Rise.” When performing it separately, Mark Hayes includes an upward modulation that propels the music into the final, most spirited refrain.
