“Fiesta! The Legend of the Poinsettia” is a 20-minute Christmas mini-musical for unison voices, based on a Mexican folk tale. As Nochebuena (Christmas Eve) approaches, villagers celebrate Las Posadas with nightly candlelit processions and the breaking of the piñata. Young Alicia worries that she has no gift for the plaza; she discovers that a gift from the heart can blossom into the fiery poinsettia plant.
The musical includes options for sacred performances and several Spanish words and short phrases. The titles are “Fiesta!,” “Is There Any Room?,” “The Piñata Song,” “What Can I Give?,” and “March of the Children.”
The Teacher’s Handbook includes reproducible pages.
