This conductor score and parts edition is for No. 1 in A major from Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Four Novelletten, Op. 52, a set of four short movements for string orchestra.
Composed in 1903, the work brings romantic sentimentality together with a coloristic exploration of the modern string orchestra. Its title may have been inspired by Robert Schumann’s Novelletten, Op. 21. Coleridge-Taylor programmed the set repeatedly at concerts he conducted throughout his career.
Set instrumentation: Perc (1 optional player: tambourine, triangle); Str (8-8-5-5-5 in set). Each of the four movements is available separately from the publisher.
