Ganjam Part(S) is associated with Jelly Roll Morton’s arrangement of GanJam, one of his own compositions arranged for the band he assembled in the late 1930s.
The planned band was arranged for four saxophones, six brass, and four rhythm players. It was scheduled to open at Harlem’s Golden Gate Ballroom on April 17th, 1939, but Morton collapsed before going onstage and the band broke up.
