This is a flat, round piece of natural goatskin measuring 16 inches. It is the thick grade, approximately 0.02 of an inch thick, or 5-6 sheets of printer paper.
For comparison, thin is approximately 0.01 of an inch or 3-4 sheets of printer paper; medium is approximately 0.015 of an inch or 4-5 sheets of printer paper.
All skins are sold “AS IS.” The supplier does its best to eliminate skins with possible defects, but on average you can expect to lose one out of ten skins. Tightness during installation will alter this ratio, so factor the possible loss into your cost.
