This Urtext conductor score presents “Brünnhilde’s Immolation Scene and Finale” from Act III of Richard Wagner’s Götterdämmerung (WWV 86D), the fourth and final opera of Der Ring des Nibelungen. The reprint adds rehearsal numbers to the score to match the parts.
The opera premiered at the Bayreuth Festival on August 17, 1876, with Hans Richter conducting the first performance of the entire cycle. In the concluding scene, Brünnhilde sacrifices herself on Siegfried’s funeral pyre; the orchestra carries the final moments as the Rhine overflows and Valhalla burns.
