SMPS400A180 Switched-Mode Power Supply The SMPS400 is a high-efficiency Safety Class 2 switch mode power supply developed for use with UcD™ amplifier modules. It is intended for audio applications where compact size, low weight, and stable power delivery across a wide load range are important.
The power supply features overcurrent protection that lowers the output voltage during temporary overload conditions. If the overload continues, the unit switches into hiccup mode and stays there until the fault is cleared. This behavior, along with the use of large electrolytic buffer capacitors, helps support short-term peak power delivery to the connected amplifier module.
The SMPS400 also includes an auxiliary isolated supply and a control interface designed to work with UcD amplifier modules. Built-in actuators allow the power supply to be enabled during normal use or shut down if a fault condition occurs.
Its design places strong emphasis on low radiated and conducted electromagnetic interference. The topology and layout have been optimized to satisfy EMI requirements commonly associated with professional audio applications.
The SMPS400 supports a selectable input voltage range, allowing it to operate with different mains supply specifications. This makes it suitable for international use across a variety of power grid standards.
As a 2-quadrant full bridge rectifier, the SMPS400 can supply single-ended Class D amplifiers.
The SMPS400 meets applicable safety and performance standards and is certified for use in professional audio equipment.

PreamplifiersA preamplifier boosts low-level signals up to line level, which is the standard operating level required by your power amplifier. That means a preamp is needed for nearly any audio source. In addition to raising low-level signals, a preamplifier also manages source switching and volume control for line-level inputs.

Mono power amps are often regarded as one of the best ways to build a high-quality amplifier system. They are commonly used in Hi-Fi and high-end audio systems, but they can also serve in musical instrument amplifier applications.

Stereo / Dual Power AmplifierA dual power amplifier contains two power supplies and two amplifier channels, with each channel running from its own dedicated power supply. Both the power supplies and amplifier sections are housed within a single enclosure. A stereo power amplifier uses one power supply to run two amplifier channels within the same enclosure.

Common multichannel designs include 4, 8, 16, or even 24 channels. Most use a single power supply, though some models may include two or more power supplies depending on the number of channels and the power demands.
