Innovative Drum Circles: from Rhythm to Melody and Beyond!
By Mary Knysh
A great introduction to drum circles, this user-friendly guide to teach, encourage, and inspire musical self-expression and community building through the joy of drum circle, this book reaches beyond rhythm and into melody, harmony, vocal drumming, and musical improvisation. Mary Knysh, one of the world's leading music educators, workshop facilitator, and trainer, draws from culturally unique rhythms to create a conversation about the importance of the similarities and differences of individuals and the importance of listening through the global, non-verbal language of music. The book includes over 100 activity pages, links to current brain research, activity outlines, and a collection of best practice tips.
As a cutting-edge workshop facilitator, trainer and consultant, Mary’s clinics and learning materials emphasize creativity, leadership and nonverbal communications.
Besides being an Orff Schulwerk clinician, Mary also acts as a teaching artist for the Pennsylvania Council of the Arts, Young Audiences of NJ, and New York BOCES, and is an international master teacher/trainer with the Music for People organization. She also regularly travels as a Remo artist throughout the United States, Europe and Asia offering drum circle facilitator trainings, performances, and workshops.
Mary Knysh is also the founder of Rhythmic Connections (), an innovative company advancing education, health, and creative development through drum circles and music improvisation.
