The Jantzen Audio Silver Z-Cap is a 12µF, 800V crossover capacitor recommended for tweeter and midrange applications in high-end passive speakers, and as a coupling capacitor in tube and power amplifiers. Its pure silver lead-wires distinguish it from the Superior Z-Cap’s pure copper lead-wires and slightly change the capacitor’s sound characteristics. Dimensions are Ø 46mm × L 70mm.
This non-polarized super MKP capacitor uses double lanes of metallized polypropylene foil. Its double-layer, round tubular construction has axial leads and bifilar extended metallized foil winding; two capacitors are connected in series inside one housing, requiring four times the foil used in standard metallized polypropylene foil capacitors. It has a ±2% capacitance tolerance. Jantzen does not fill the capacitor with dielectric fluid, eliminating risks of evaporation or leakage that can shorten capacitor longevity and quality.
Technical details: polypropylene-film dielectric; 150% rated-voltage test; vacuum-deposited aluminum-metallized electrodes; non-inductive, zinc thermally sprayed extended-film contacts; and a coating of silver plastic tape wrapped in black resin and sealed in an anodized aluminum tube. The voltage rating is 800 VDC / 630 VAC from 0.47µF to 22µF, including this 12µF value; the listed range from 0.1μF to 0.39μF is 1200 VDC / 800 VAC.
