Jing Jing Jingle is a conductor score for an inventive, jazzy take on the holiday chestnut “Jingle Bells,” where Saint Nick meets Benny Goodman and renowned drummer Gene Krupa.
The piece opens with an iconic toms solo before moving into the familiar melody. When the full ensemble enters on the chorus, sleigh bells add to the festive mood.
A call-and-response section between the brass and woodwind sections leads to Jolly Old St. Nicholas’s appearance at the close.
