Just Playin' Around is a conductor score and parts for a jazz piece inspired by a photograph of jazz clubs on New York's 52nd Street in the late 1940s.
The music has the sound and feel of great standards from that era, blending elements of classic big band style with bebop. Tenor sax has a written solo and changes.
Along with performance applications, the piece offers teaching opportunities.
