Carl Reinecke's operas are not well known today, but this prelude has long been a concert band staple. Rich in Germanic romantic tradition, this work opens with a dark sense of foreboding that gives way to a warm and hopeful chorale. This new edition has been rescored to be accessible by bands of various levels.
