Korobushka (The Peddler) is a Russian folk song and dance presented here in a playable arrangement by Michael Story. The conductor score and parts are suited to concert or festival performance.
The arrangement uses varying styles and builds to an exciting accelerando at the end. Duration: 1:50.
The song is based on an 1861 poem by Nikolay Nekrasov. Its music was written sometime in the late 19th century, though the composer is unknown. The accompanying dance became popular in the early 1900s and was brought to America by Russian immigrants.
