This conductor score and parts arrangement features La Virgen de la Macarena, the traditional bullfighting song made famous by trumpet virtuoso Rafael Mendez. It is a well-known trumpet solo also performed by Doc Severinsen and The Canadian Brass.
A short introduction quoting part of Bizet’s Carmen sets up both the soloist and the famous “bull” tune.
The arranger’s favorite version is a recording by Mr. Vincent Di Martino with the Band of the Battle Creek.
