Masquerade Condensed Score is a Grade 1 waltz designed to introduce young players to their first orchestral experience.
It avoids formidable technical challenges and complicated rhythms, with all parts written to be simple and straightforward. The 2nd Clarinet does not go above the "break," the Violin part moves essentially scale-wise, and the Horn parts are melodic rather than "oompah" in style.
Even with limited instrumentation, this orchestration is intended to deliver a big sound. Instrumentation: 1.1.2.1: 2Sax(AT): 1.2.2-3**.1: Perc(3-4): Pno: Str (14.3*.7.6.5** in set): CS in set: *Opt. Use only to reinforce the Viola part. **Bs/Tbn3 the same.
