"Midnight In Kyiv" is a dramatic and intriguing piece that draws inspiration from the traditional Baltic folk dance, the Tropak. A familiar melody is repeated throughout the piece, gradually becoming faster and more intricate. It then develops into a beautiful legato section that builds tension before breaking into a furious dance. This piece helps players master the technique of playing grace notes as well as gradually increasing tempo as an ensemble. "Midnight In Kyiv" is highly entertaining for both the player and listener alike.
