Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750) composed Motet No. 1: Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied (Sing unto the Lord a new song), BWV 225 around 1727; it was likely performed that year as well. This conductor score presents the three-movement motet for double choir and a small orchestra.
The music sets Psalm 149:1–3, the third stanza of “Nun lob, mein Seel, den Herren,” and Psalm 150:2 & 6. Instrumentation: 0.2.0.1: 0.0.0.0: Str (2-2-2-1-1 in set): Mixed Chorus.
