“From Root a Flower Opens Skywards” is a choral octavo about the eternal striving upwards. Its lyrics compare the heart to a beautiful, heavenly flower that radiates love and embraces the whole world.
The song features a poem by Latvian classic poet and fairy-tale author Karlis Skalbe. It was commissioned by State Choir “LATVIJA” and conductor Maris Sirmais.
