On Pinta Island Score & Parts is a slow ballad for brass quintet inspired by the final days of Lonesome George, the last of the giant Galapagos tortoises of Pinta Island.
An opening trombone solo sets the stage for an extremely expressive melody that gradually builds to an emotional finish. This simple but descriptive lyrical piece asks musicians to connect emotionally while meeting the musical demands of the score.
Written for brass quintet, it is a strong choice for ensembles looking for a reflective, story-driven work with clear melodic expression.
