Piano Works, Vol. 2 is a printed music book featuring Suites XI-XIX from Dietrich Buxtehude’s three-volume collection.
Danish composer and organist Dietrich Buxtehude (1637-1707) is a major figure of the North German baroque school and an influence on Johann Sebastian Bach’s style. This volume comes from a family-book that was handed down for centuries in the Danish family of Ryge before its discovery in the mid-20th century.
The full collection includes 19 suites, 6 works of variation, and 3 anonymous works, likely by Buxtehude. This edition was compiled and edited by Emilius Bangert.
Volume 1 includes Suites I-X, Volume 2 includes Suites XI-XIX, and Volume 3 includes the works of variation and anonymous works.
