Prelude And Celebration is a band work offered as a conductor score and parts. Its two main themes were originally composed by young students on recorders, and the piece was built around those melodies.
The result is a colorful, contrasting work with rhythmic and melodic interest. In the last section of Celebration, all players sing a C pedal tone as a warm accompaniment for three soloists.
The ending highlights unity, support, and fun in a band as part of achieving successful performances.
