PRV Audio’s MOTO Series 8-inch slim midrange loudspeaker is designed for pro audio in motorsports applications. Its 4-ohm impedance, water-resistant construction and 2.50-inch mounting depth suit compact installations in boats, UTVs, 4 wheelers, ATVs, Slingshots and motorcycles, including most stock mounting locations. A grille and screws are included.
The carbon fiber cone has a coated suspension and is described as lightweight, rigid and well damped. A specially treated surround and flat, single-layer spider support linear cone movement; stitched lead wires connect the voice coil to the terminals. The high-temperature, 1.5-inch (38 mm) copper-clad aluminum voice coil uses CCAW wire, a 10.0 mm winding depth and a Kapton former. A neodymium motor, 6.0 mm magnetic gap and stamped steel frame complete the assembly. Low-inductance technology supports frequency response up to 12,000 Hz; the stated usable range is 120–12,000 Hz, and the frequency-response specification is 110–13,500 Hz. The speaker is described as offering low distortion, off-axis and transient response, and a smooth transition to a super tweeter; its broad response may eliminate the need for one.
Power specifications are 200 watts nominal power handling, 400 watts continuous program power (RMS) and 800 watts maximum peak power. Sensitivity is 95 dB (2.00V at 1 m).
