
Scenes de la Czarda No. 4, Op. 32, is a reprint edition of Jenö Hubay’s 1890 work, best known by its subtitle, Hejre Kati. Hubay (1858–1937), a Hungarian violinist, composer, and music teacher, wrote 14 Scenes de la Czarda (also titled Scènes de la Csárda) between 1879 and 1920 for his concert and teaching use. The works were written for violin and piano; some were later orchestrated by Hubay. The conductor score is not available.
This work draws on three Hungarian melodies: “The Yellow Stallion,” “The Love of a Young Baron,” and an untitled folk tune also used by Brahms in Hungarian Dance No. 21.
