Scherzo Diabolique is a score and parts for a trio, with a demanding display of notes and rhythms designed to showcase the performers’ technical skills.
The piece begins with a sinister character, shifts to a light-hearted respite in the relative major, then returns to its diabolical nature and drives to a furious conclusion. It is dedicated to Mary Kay Godfrey, who provided the materials necessary to complete the composition.
