The Shadzi T3S is a compact 2-way bookshelf speaker kit with a knock-down enclosure, designed by DIY speaker builder Javad Shadzi. It is rated at 60 Watts RMS/120 Watts Max, with 4 Ohm impedance, 84 dB sensitivity (1W/1m) and dimensions of 11.5" H x 8" W x 11" D. The listed frequency response is 45–40,000 Hz; the driver pairing is also described as producing a smooth ±3 dB response from 70 Hz to 20 kHz. Its controlled on- and off-axis performance is suited to nearfield or traditional listening, small rooms, desktop use and home theater surrounds.
The drivers are a Peerless by Tymphany XT25TG30-04 1" dual ring radiator tweeter and a Dayton Audio RS150-4 6" aluminum cone reference woofer, rated at 4 Ohm. The custom crossover uses a printed circuit board and high-quality components: a 2,000 Hz crossover point, third-order tweeter filter and second-order woofer filter. Air core inductors, polypropylene capacitors and low-inductance resistors are used, with the crossover optimized to keep the drivers in phase through the crossover region.
The bass-reflex enclosure has a tuned flared port designed to reach below 50 Hz with gentle rolloff and minimize turbulence and audible port noise. Its panels are precision CNC-cut from ¾" MDF, with rabbeted joints, an included center brace and ½" Sonic Barrier acoustic damping material to reduce enclosure resonances and internal reflections. The kit includes a step-by-step manual; tools and time are needed for assembly.
The kit contains the parts to build one complete speaker: one 7.5uF 250V polypropylene capacitor; one 1.5uF 250V precision audio capacitor; one 22uF 100V non-polarized capacitor; one 0.40mH 20 AWG air core inductor coil; one 1.4mH 20 AWG air core inductor coil; one 7 Ohm 10 Watt precision 1% audio-grade resistor; one 2 Ohm 10 Watt precision 1% audio-grade resistor; one 6" 4 Ohm aluminum cone reference woofer; one 1" dual ring radiator tweeter; 6 ft. of 16 AWG stranded OFC twisted-pair red/black speaker cabinet hookup wire; one 125-pack of #8 x 3/4" black pan-head deep-thread screws; one 18" x 24" sheet of ½" Sonic Barrier acoustic foam with PSA; one pair of gold HD binding posts; one 1-7/8" ID x 5-5/8" L flared port tube; five 12" black cable ties; five 0.110" (16-14) female disconnects; one 0.205" (16-14) female disconnect; one T3S reference speaker kit crossover printed circuit board; and one T3S bookshelf speaker kit knock-down enclosure.
