Sonic Barrier Acousta-Blue+ is a sound-damping material for speaker cabinets, combining denim fiber with 1 lb. mat vinyl. It helps control standing waves, cabinet vibration, and rattling or buzzing, supporting clearer, more accurate audio. The 30 mm (1.18") denim layer with vinyl is suited to large bass reflex speaker and subwoofer cabinets and can reduce the need for extra-thick wood. Its peel-n-stick application does not require glue, a mask, or gloves.
The material makeup is 75% denim and 25% binders, using recycled denim. The supplied sheet measures 40" W x 53.5" L (1016 x 1219 mm) and covers 15 sq. ft. Denim thickness is 1.18" (30 mm); vinyl thickness is 0.12" (3 mm). The specifications list an NCR rating of 1.0 at 5 kHz, and the description states an NRC rating 30% better than fiberglass in thicknesses less than 3".
The description notes resistance to flames, rodents, insects, fungi, and mildew, and says the material does not dry out over time like foam. For cutting, use a utility knife for the vinyl and carpet shears, sharp large fabric scissors, or high quality electrician scissors for the Acousta-Blue denim.
