This oblong kalimba thumb piano is crafted from a solid piece of durable, renewable, plantation-grown mahogany hardwood. Its branded star and stripes design recalls early West African kalimbas used in tribal dances and rituals; the instrument is inspired by kalimbas that originated thousands of years ago.
It has 7 tunable steel keys and arrives without preset tuning settings, so you can tune it to your preference. Tighten or loosen the tension with the two screws on top, then move the keys in or out to adjust their length and pitch. Longer keys have lower pitches, while shorter keys have higher pitches.
Hold the kalimba in both hands and stroke the keys with both thumbs together or individually. Its compact size makes it easy to hold and play for practice, performance or recording, and it can produce soothing melodies, accents and complex musical arrangements.
Materials: Mahogany hardwood and 7 steel keys. Size: 5.5" W x 7.25" L x 1.25" D.
