Mozart’s Symphony No. 38 in D, K. 504 “Prague” is presented here as a conductor score for study and performance.
After a three-year hiatus from symphonic writing, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart completed this work on December 6, 1786. He replaced the usual minuet and trio with a more expansive slow introduction to support the three-movement structure. The piece is frequently called the “Prague” because its premiere took place during his first trip to the Bohemian city on January 19, 1787.
Instrumentation: 2.2.0.2: 2.2.0.0: Timp: Str (4.4.3.3.3 in set).
