Dvořák’s Symphony No. 6 in D, Op. 60 / B. 112 is presented here as a conductor score in a critical edition edited by František Bartoš.
The edition is based on the composer’s manuscript. The symphony shares several similarities with the symphonies of Brahms and Beethoven and incorporates several Czech folk tunes.
It was first performed in Vienna in 1883 by the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde, conducted by Wilhelm Gericke. The work was well received throughout Europe and became especially popular in England.
