Tantum Ergo Book features Gabriel Fauré’s setting of Tantum ergo, Op. 55. The work is known as one of the composer’s simplest pieces, with an atmosphere of quiet tranquility.
Fauré suggested that music written for religious purposes reflects a composer’s own emotions and spirituality, and this setting reflects that contemplative character.
