The Art of the Fugue BWV 1080 is J. S. Bach’s uniquely complex final work, presented here in Carl Czerny’s edition for solo keyboard.
This edition follows the work’s undocumented original instrumentation and includes the full sequence of movements: Fuga I a 4 voci through Fuga XV a tre soggetti ed a 4 voci, plus the canons and the two-piano fugue movements.
Included movements are Fuga VI (in stile francese) a 4 voci, Fuga VIII a 3 voci, Fuga XII (inversa), Fuga XIII (inversa), Fuga XIV a 4 voci (Variante zu No. X), Canone I (per augmentationem in motu contrario), Canone II all'ottava), Canone III (alla decima), and Canone IV (alla duodecima).
