The Dragon King Score & Parts is a musical work capturing the grandeur and boldness of China's first emperor, who was crowned in 221 BC, unified the country's various states, and led with an iron hand.
The piece draws on the massive projects he ordered: the construction of the Great Wall of China, a new palace, and an enormous tomb containing the famous Terracotta Army. Its use of the pentatonic scale gives the work an Asian feel.
